EXPLORING MOSQUITO HAZARDS IN BANGLADESH: CHALLENGES AND SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS

Authors: Md. Jahidul Islam1*, Mahady Hasan Asif2, Dr. Sadia Rahman3, Md. Hasan4
Published: 2024-December-31

Mosquito-borne diseases remain a persistent public health challenge in Bangladesh, posing significant burdens on individuals, healthcare systems, and socio-economic development. This review explores the multifaceted dimensions of the mosquito problem, encompassing epidemiology, vector ecology, environmental factors, and socioeconomic determinants of mosquito proliferation. To understand the disease burden, we explore the transmission dynamics and public health impact of prevalent mosquito-borne diseases like dengue, malaria, and chikungunya. Furthermore, we scrutinize the efficacy and limitations of existing vector control strategies, including their environmental implications and sustainability.

A STUDY ON DESIGN OF MICRO-HYDROPOWER PLANT FOR RUN-OFF WATER SOURCES IN BANGLADESH

Authors: Md Rakibuzzaman1,2*, Aminul Islam3, Ahmad Abdullah Kauser1, A.K.M. Parvez Iqbal1, Ling Zhou2
Published: 2024-December-31

Hydropower has been one of the most used energy sources in the world since historic times. Electricity production from hydropower has been there for decades, particularly in isolated regions. Studies have shown that 232 rivers in Bangladesh can be used for micro-hydropower generation and energy security for isolated communities with a reasonable flow rate. The run off water from these rivers can be used as a clean energy source for running micro-hydro power plants.

HARVESTING REJECTED HEAT BY THE SPLIT A/C CONDENSER FOR PRODUCING WARM WATER

Authors: Hasib Amed Sikder1, Tasfia Tasnim1, Ehasanul Haque1, Debasish Sarker2,*
Published: 2024-December-31

This study investigates the potential use of rejected heat by outdoor A/C units. Rather than being lost to the environment, the heat will be utilized to make warm water. An experimental setup was designed and constructed that cooled down the refrigerant heat of a condenser by tap water. R22 and tap water were used as hot and cold fluid, respectively. The inlet and outlet temperature of the shell side fluid i.e., water was measured by thermocouple.

A DUMBBELL-SHAPED PATCH ANTENNA FOR IMD

Authors: Emtiaz Ahmed Mainul1, Md. Faruque Hossain2, Tawfikur Rahman3,*, Nibedita Deb4, Md.Moniruzzaman3, S. M. Rezaul Karim3, Md. Saidur Rahman1
Published: 2024-December-31

This paper presents a dumbbell-shaped patch antenna designed for biomedical applications. The antenna is powered through an insect-fed transmission line, and its resonance frequency is found within the Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) band, ranging from 2.3408 to 2.5546 GHz. The substrate of the antenna is chosen as FR-4 (with a relative permittivity of 4.3 and a loss tangent of 0.0004), while the superstrate, which isolates the radiating patch and ground, is made of Al₂O₃ (with a relative permittivity of 9.4 and a loss tangent of 0.004).

EFFECT OF DIFFERENT ORGANIC AND INORGANIC FERTILIZERS ON THE GROWTH AND YIELD OF OKRA

Authors: Mohammad Rezaul karim1*, M A Sattar1, Abdur Rouf1, Sazzad Hossain1, Md. Mahfuzul Hoque1
Published: 2024-December-31

Okra production is thought to be increased by applying inorganic fertilizers; however, continuous application of inorganic fertilizers might cause nutritional imbalance and soil acidity, considering these, a sustainable approaches of okra production would involve managing fertilizers more efficiently using both organic and inorganic fertilizers. With this objective an experiment was evaluated to understand the effectiveness of different types of organic and inorganic fertilizers in promoting the growth and development of Okra plants. The experiment comprised of three replications, six treatments, and one control (untreated).

THE STRATEGIC IMPLICATION OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ON FREELANCING IN BANGLADESH: A REVIEW OF LITERATURE

Authors: Kamal Hossain1*, Kazi Md. Fahim Ahmed1, Sabrina Hossain Fariha1
Published: 2024-December-31

This study critically analyzes the strategic impact of Artificial Intelligence on freelancing in Bangladesh. Using a systematic literature review, data was gathered from scientific articles available on platforms such as Google Scholar, SSRN, Wiley database, as well as reports from PricewaterhouseCoopers International Limited (PwC). The findings highlight strategic implications using a Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) framework. AI presents a potential threat to freelancers, as some job roles can now be replaced by AI technology.

PRODUCTION OF ‘‘TOMALOO’’ PLANT THROUGH GRAFTING TOMATO ON POTATO AT IUBAT: A PROMISING TECHNOLOGY FOR BANGLADESH AGRICULTURE
